01Getting started
What does Ember actually do?
Ember has two tools: Get a Reply writes a reply to a conversation you paste in or screenshot, and Generate a Pickup Line writes an opener from scratch based on a short bio, a vibe, and where you matched. Both let you pick a tone (Playful, Flirty, Dry, Warm, or Bold) and redo the result until it feels right. Ember never sends anything on its own — you always copy and send it yourself.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Ember signs you in anonymously the first time you open it — no email, no password. Your saved history and subscription are tied to that anonymous identity on your device.
Is my conversation stored or shared anywhere?
What you submit is sent to our AI provider only to generate a suggestion, and isn't kept afterward unless the result is saved to your history (which now happens automatically for every result). See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what's collected and why.
02Get a Reply
Should I paste text or upload a screenshot?
Either works. Pasting the raw conversation text is fastest; a screenshot is useful when you don't want to retype a long thread. You can upload up to 3 screenshots (PNG or JPG) for one request.
Can I change the tone after I get a reply?
Yes — tap any of the five tone chips (Playful, Flirty, Dry, Warm, Bold) on the result screen and Ember regenerates a fresh reply in that tone using the same original conversation. Tap Redo to get a new variant in the tone you're already on.
Why didn't Ember pick up my screenshot correctly?
Make sure the screenshot clearly shows the message text (not a blurry or partial capture) and try again — a fresh generation often resolves it. If it keeps failing, email us a description of what happened and we'll look into it.
03Generate a Pickup Line
What should I put in the bio field?
A couple of real details is enough — something from their dating profile, a shared interest, or a specific thing they mentioned. The more specific the detail, the less generic the opener.
What does the "where" option change?
It tells Ember the context you're opening in — a dating app, a DM, or in person — so the line matches how that conversation actually starts.
04Subscription & billing
What does Ember Premium include?
Unlimited replies and openers, all five tones, screenshot reading, and your full saved history with no daily cap. Ember Premium is offered as a weekly or annual auto-renewing subscription.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Subscriptions are billed and managed entirely through your Apple ID. Go to Settings app → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or use the Manage button in Ember's own Settings tab, which opens the same App Store subscription screen.
I was charged but Premium isn't unlocked. What do I do?
Open Ember and go to Settings → Restore purchases. This re-checks your Apple ID's active subscriptions and unlocks Premium immediately if one is found. If it still doesn't unlock after restoring, email us your approximate purchase date and we'll help sort it out.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple ID that made the purchase.
05Your account & data
How do I delete my saved history?
Every saved reply and opener lives in the History tab. Deleting your account (below) removes all of it permanently; there's currently no way to delete a single entry without deleting the account.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently deletes your history and account record right away — it can't be undone, and there's no waiting period. See the Privacy Policy for details.
I deleted the app. Is my data gone?
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account or history on our servers — use Settings → Delete account inside the app before uninstalling if you want everything permanently removed.
06Troubleshooting
Ember says "Couldn't generate that" — what now?
This usually means a temporary network issue or a brief service hiccup. Check your connection and try again; if it keeps happening on the same input, try rephrasing or re-uploading the screenshot. If it's persistent, email us the error message shown.
The app is slow or a result never finishes loading.
Generation typically takes a few seconds. If a request seems stuck for longer than about 30 seconds, go back and try again — occasionally a request needs to be resent. Repeated slowness on a stable connection is worth reporting to us.
I found a bug.
Email us what happened, what you expected instead, and your iOS version if you can — screenshots help a lot. We read every message.
