What Ember collects, why, who it's shared with, and how to get it deleted — in plain language.
01The short version
Ember reads what you choose to submit (a conversation screenshot or bio) to write you a reply or opener, using a third-party AI provider to do the writing. Nothing you submit is stored beyond that unless you tap Save. You never create a password or hand over your name — you're identified only by an anonymous account ID. You can delete everything, permanently, from Settings at any time.
02What we collect
| Data | When |
|---|---|
| Conversation screenshots & text | When you use Get a Reply — sent to our AI provider to generate a suggestion, not stored unless you tap Save. |
| Bio / context text | When you use Generate a Pickup Line — same handling as above. |
| Saved replies & openers | Only when you tap Save on a result — stored under your anonymous account so History and your Home stats can show it back to you. |
| Anonymous account ID | Created automatically the first time you open the app (Firebase anonymous sign-in). Not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. |
| Subscription status | Whether you have an active Ember Premium plan, and which one — provided by Apple/RevenueCat, not by you directly. |
| App preferences | Local device settings (like your default tone), stored only on your device. |
| Notification permission status | Whether you've allowed notifications, read from iOS — we don't currently send any. |
We don't collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location. We don't require you to create an account with a password.
03How we use it
- To generate your reply or opener. What you submit is sent to our AI provider (Wiro.ai) purely to produce the suggested text, and is returned to your device.
- To show your History and Home stats. Only content you explicitly saved is stored and read back to build your history list, streak, and recent items.
- To manage your subscription. Your entitlement status is checked so premium features unlock correctly.
- To prevent abuse. We track how many generation requests your account makes per minute/day (not their content) to stop automated abuse of the service.
We do not use your conversation content for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
04Who we share it with
We use a small number of outside services to run Ember. Each one only receives what it needs:
| Service | What it receives |
|---|---|
| Wiro.ai | The conversation text/screenshot or bio you submit, and the tone you selected — to generate the reply/opener. Nothing else. |
| Firebase (Google) | Your anonymous account ID, saved history (if any), and app preference flags. Firebase also runs the server-side functions that relay requests to Wiro.ai, so your submitted content passes through it in transit. |
| RevenueCat | Your anonymous account ID and subscription/purchase status. |
| Apple (App Store) | Payment details for your subscription — handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card information. |
We don't share your data with anyone else, and we don't sell it.
05How long we keep it
A conversation or bio you submit but don't save is used once to generate a suggestion and isn't retained by us afterward. If you tap Save, that entry stays in your history until you delete it individually or delete your account. Your anonymous account record and everything tied to it is kept until you delete your account, at which point it's permanently removed (see below).
06Your rights & deleting your data
Wherever you are, you have the right to know what we hold about you and to have it deleted. Because Ember doesn't collect your name or email, the fastest way to exercise that right is directly in the app:
You can also turn off local history saving at any time from Settings → Save history on device, or reach out at the contact below with any privacy question or request.
07Security
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with Firebase's standard access controls — your history is readable only by your own account, enforced by Firestore security rules, not just app-side logic. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't do anything unusual with your data that would increase your risk beyond what's described here.
08Children's privacy
Ember is intended for people 17 and older and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used Ember and provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
09International transfers
Our service providers (Firebase/Google, Wiro.ai, RevenueCat) may process data in countries other than the one you're in. Each operates under its own data-protection commitments; using Ember means you're okay with your data being processed in this way.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data in a meaningful way, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Ember after a change means you accept the updated policy.
